Hi everyone(or just my mum is this case!!),
Alan knows and so does Carolyn but not sure about anyone else. Tell Doug and Edith and Irene! Think Edith knows but is just not commenting!! anyway...OMG ELEPHANTS!!! Yep today was the greatest and bestest(if thats even a word but i don't care!) of my life!!!! I made treats for the elephants made from rice, honey, bannans, lettuce and mixed it alltogether and rolled it ito a ball. We then got to go into th e enclosure(behind a electric fence ofcourse but could still touch them) and feed these elephants these treats(which they loved!!). They were absoulty amazing!! they sucked it up with their trunk and you could feel the suction of ur hand as they did it. The 2 baby elephants came up too for the treats and I eneded up getting totally covered!! i loved it though.
We also fed the hippo's today which was really fun and got some really good upclose pictures of me putting food into this giant hippo's mouth!!Beautiful animals though and very funny. Went for food and just in time as it started to rain as we were walking but made it safely! Got some shopping and went home to do some work for the zoo(its not all fun and games im afraid!). Anyway I bought mamma mia on dvd(a copy but shhh don't tell anyone!!), and everyone(well Ili,Katy and I watched it in the house we were all singing and dancing to every song!!) remember like in the cinema mum???
Just writing this now and going back to meet up with Katy and Ili. Its just started to thunder and lightning and downput ahhh!! i don't even have my rainjacket with me i totally forgot it!! ohh well i will just have to get wet!!
speak to you all soon and....PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS!! I love reading them :)

Bitten,Leeched And All Things Nasty!!
Hi folks.
Ok so Ive skipped a few days as can't remember what I did most of the time and it's hard enough trying to write the same thing over and over again as it really is(zoo, work, lunch, more zoo work, into town, ber, home, bed!!). Anyway today been a good day! Got up again at 6am no problem...well ish although I was going to take my pillow with me to sleep on!! got a drink and I shower and I was all bright and ready to go!
Today everyone got split into 2 teams. 3 of us would stay and work and feed the chimpanzees, marmasets etc and the other 3 would go and work with the chimps. Today I stayed and work with the orangutans which was really fun actually and I think we managed to do it in a record time. It was harder though just being the 3 of us(well 4 if you include Ili) instead of the 6 of us there was more work to do but we got there in the end. Had breakfast a bit later than usual but I was glad to sit down and get a drink! Finished breakfast and then started making jelly cubes for Wusabi and Sally and Simon(the gibbons!). We let it set while we went on another tram ride around the zoo to get some more photos.
Once we came back, we gave the jelly to Sally and Simon who..were unsure at first but did take it in the end. Wusabi however was not in a good mood and hasn't been atall today. She has bene put into a different cage smaller from the one that she is usally in and I think its really starting to take her toll on it. she biting on the cage and ripping the cage and destorying all the rope that was tied up to let her swing from it. Ili is going to talk to the zoo keeps and the head excectutive to see if they can move her. It was sooo sad as she was screaming and crying and you did just soooo sorry for her!.
Got bitten today....about 7 times actually by misquito's! bloody wee buggers so much for strong scottish blood eh?? Have been rubbing tiger balm on them all day but not sure if its making it worse or better. Think its actually attracting them more to the tiger balm than it was to my normal skin!!. I also got leeched today! :( I was walking into town after work and I didn't even realised it was actually one of the girls that had said "Oh my god look at the blood on ur trousers,I think you have been leeched!!". I turned around and the back of my trousers is covered in blood. Anyone know any good recipes to get blood out?? Im fine though I didn't feel a thing and aparently the leave an antiseptic in ur body so that will be quite good I suppose??
Got something to eat at a malay food court market which was actually quite nice! I got a buffet style with rice, orange chicken and cooked fresh vegetables for 5 ringit(which is like 1-2 pound so it was very cheap!). Just finished and now...well Im here!! lol Meeting the head director of the zoo soon so we all ned to be on our best behavipur for him and for Ili's sake as he is her boss!! Was actually supposed to come to the zoo but ended up leaving later and he's in Kulala Lumpa so it does take atleats 4-5 hours on a bus!! So he's going to join all of us in town for a beer and a chat so that will be a good laugh I suppose!
Anyway plz everyone leave comments!! I havent gotten any yet! :(

Day.....ahh bugger Ive lost count
Ive lost count doing this and trying to remember everything ive done is hard work for a young hard working girl!! lol anyway.....got up again at 6am and came down for breakfast(for me really a drink of juice and maybe some toast if i can be bothered). As we came out,we saw that our bin had been empted and everything was all over the floor. Bloody monkey's had been in at them again. Walk to work was really nice as it wasn't too hot as this time of the day. Arrived and went straight into the zoo and started work.
Nothing really major happened really until the late afternoon. We were feeding Wusabi and had the cage door closed but not locked so that everyone could get out after we had finished. 4 of us were inside the cage(including Ili) feeding Wusabi while Sue and Linda stayed outside. I think it was Sue went to get something and we were distraced by something for like 5 seconds and Wusabi had flung open the cage door!!! Oh ohhh! before we knew it she was out and away and had climbed up the front of her cage right to the top and just sat there. She knew this was fun but it wasn't for us as Ili started getting very nervous as she knew that she would be in trouble if any keeper found out!
We got some fruit that we had left and Ili got a jar of honey(her favourite) to try and get her down. She came down the cage just slightly but still stayed a safe distance away so that she knew we couldn't grab her. After about 15 minutes Ili called for Uncle Manning(the head keeper) who soon arrived and Wusabi came down. She got a horrible beating from the keeper which was really not sure but just to say that she had done bad and not to do it again. Although to be fair she was grabbing onto the keepers and trying to bite the keepers too. She got put back in the cage but it was all very tramatic for her she was very traumitised so Ili stayed in the cage with her for atleast an hour trying to calm her down. Ili had said that because a human had hit her then she would probely think that any human would hit her and that they are going to be cruel to her so not to trust them and be very defensive.Luckily she was ok and was soon playing again and back to her normal self.
It was a very traumatic day though for everyone especially Ili who kept apologising to everyone about what had happened and that you should never see a keeper hit a orangutan. We went for a late lunch and changed the subject and soon laughing and cheering at our local over a beer(me a coke ofcourse!)

Day 7
Start of a new week....awwww was good today though coz we had a bit of a easy day because it wasn't busy because of kids being back at work(thank god!!). Wasn't feeling very good so I skipped lunch and just walked around the park on my lunch break. Sat with the Elephants for about 30 minutes just watching them! lol everyone must think Im mad!
Sat back with Wusabi for a bit and played with her(while she tried to grab me and get me in her cage while the door was closed and locked!!). I think she kinda realised I couldn't fit in there. In the afternoon we made her some more parcels but this time we put rice in them and mixed it with honey and....yeh get this....Marmite!! We gave 2 to Sally and Simon(the gibbons) who seemed to really enjoy it!). It was then off to the chimps who seemed to really like them once they decided to bloody move and get them ofcourse. Think it took them a while to get them open but when they did they had a great treat!.Last but not least it was Wusabi who basically just ripped open the parcels. We gave her 1 with Marmite,1 with honey and 1 with normal rice and we started taking bets on which one she would eat first.
Well the plain rice was a no no!! she left that straight away. It was between marmite and honey. She eat most of her marmite and then most of her honey.......but then went back to the marmite and finished the marmite and then finished the honey! not sure what she did with the plain rice mind you! think she did eat it in the end once she knew that was all that was in it!. We also put some marmite on the cage bars and it was sooooo funny to see her lick her way from the bottom to the top of the cage licking all the marmite off!
Left work and went into town again and got a few supplies before stopping off at our "local" for a beer and a chat. Loads of big vans were passing us today so we think there might be a fair or shows starting soon YAYYYY!! it will be like being 8 again!! I hope I can get a goldfish!

Day 4
Hi again..
Lol getting tired of me yet??lol so day 4! Up early today at 6am(yeh I know a bloody nightmare for me!!). Saturday today which was a bad day to start at but I will talk more about that later on! Got up at 6am.,had a shower, got dressed and we all were down at the zoo entrance to wait on Ili and 8am when we started. First of all we cleaned out all the Marmaset's Cages and swept all the leaves away from the paths and made sure there was no rubbish lying around(clean clean around here you see!!). After all the cleaning was the...feeding!! Yayyy!!
Fed the Marmasets first. We have Reggie and Ronnie,The Famous 5(5 marmasets in one cage duuuhhh!!),Scully(coz of his white hair sticking up!) and Billy No Mates(who is on his own hence the name awwwww). Quite a mixture of fruit and quail eggs all mushed together but they did seem to love it.We the fed the wild cats....No not the lions or tigers these are like pussy cats but they are slightly bigger and fierce looking. We then fed Amy the Lemur who is soooo friendly she loves been stroked and scratched all day long. We then fed the birds and supposed to be the otters but we had word from one of the keepers that they were checking on the otters and found none there!! They had all escaped ahhh!!!big disaster but we have put down food for them so hopefully they will come back.
Went for some breakfast in the cafeteria in the zoo premesis which was nice but I don't know what I had but it was very spicy!! it was ok though I suppose. After breakfast we fed last but no means least Wusabi. She had all different kinds of fruit but we tried to give her the greens first and cabbage but she just kept spitting it out and flinging it on the floor and also flinging it at us so we just gave her the fruit and bread. Went for lunch where???.....Yep Borneo Cafe!! We go there every lunchtime for lunch so you will get fed up me saying it to you all the time!! Came back and did some enrichment excersices with Wuzabi. We got some fruit and wrapped it in bannana leaves and poured some honey over it(she looovvvess honey) and tied it tightly with some string. And while Illi distracted Wuzabi(well tried to anyway), we hung up her fruit parcels around the cage some high some low and some in secret places so that she would need to search for them. It was very fun to watch her look around to try and find all her parcels but I think she found them all in the end.
Finished work at 5,went into town, had a beer, walked around for a bit and then just went home to bed.

Day...3
Hi everyone,
Ok so...day 3. Got up at around 8am, went for a shower, got dressed and got ready to meet Ili(our rep/supervisor) at the zoo entrance at 10am. It took us 15 minutes to get there which was really good and it was a lovely walk with everyone. Met the local "monkeys" but luckily they just stared at us as we walked past and didn't actually come down and do anything. Got to the zoo and Ili showed us around the zoo. It was a lovely walk and a great chance to stop off and see all the animals and get good photo's(which I will try and get later!).
After, she showed us to the Orangutans who we are working with for our programme(and me other animals too during the next 3 weeks!). Met Pudding and Heaven who are two adult orangutans and they are amazing! We watched them from afar as they lounged about outside. We then met Wusabi who is a 5 year old female orangutan who is on her own at the moment because she is too young to go out on her own with her mum and dad(and Pudding the mum has post natal depression and keeps think she might kill Wusabi if they let her in with her so they are waiting till she is older and a lot stronger for herself)She is sooo cute we can stroke her and hold her hand and she doesn't bat an eyelid shes not aggressive atall she just loves attention and someone to play with.
Went into town for lunch at Borneo Cafe again and had a great lunch and then we had the rest of the day off which was good so we just hung around town for a while, got any supplies for the house that we didn't have allready and had a beer and went home. Watched a movie with everyone and then just went to bed.Up early early tomorrow for our first day of "real work"!!!!

Day 1-4(my catch up!!)
Hi everyone,
Yayyy I have my own blogspot...how exciting!! didn't realise how intelligent I was did you?? lol anyway how is everyone?? Im fine very warm but doing great! welcome to my blogspot on.....MALAYSIA!
First day we arrived at a very wet but very beautiful KL(Kuala Lumpa to you who don't understand!!). Stayed in a beautiful hostel with hot water and a comfy..ish bed!! Met Illi who is our rep and who is taking care of us on this trip. I am sharing a room with Linda( two seperate beds ofcourse!!) so I met her and everyone else on the project. Once we had all got settled in, Illi took us for a welcome dinner an Indian just 5 minutes walk from the house and it was fantasic. We just had tapas a wee bit of everyone but the food was gorgeous and Im not actually a fan of indian.
Afterwards we went to a local bar and had a drink(me having a coke!) just to celebrate our first night in Malaysia! We went back to the house(via the shop to get loads of sweeties and chocolate of course) for our long 4 hour journey to Peinang where we would be working in the zoo.
Woke up not...late but not early in between, had some breakfast and went into town with some of the girls. We were all broken up into groups. 6 of us went to another zoo just half an hour from Kuala Lumpa and the rest(us the unlucky ones!!) travelled to Peinang. It was long being 4 hours but we did stop inbetween and had a drink and a toilet break but I think I mostly slept or played games on my mobile!. Arrived on a dull but very seneric town on Peinang and straight to our house where we wouls be staying! Its a lovely house looking over the mountains which really is a beautiful sight(will try and get pics if I can remember how to upload them to the computer!).
Checked into our house where the six of us would be staying. All together there is Sue and Paul(who have a room to theirselves),Myself and Linda who share a room with 2 single beds and 2 twins(can't remember their names but its sooo funny coz they are both indentical and we all get mixed up by them!). We then went for some lunch/dinner in town which is 25 minutes walking but it was a beautiful walk along a park and we passed the zoo that we would be working at!! Went into town for dinner which was lovely and then went shopping for some food and supplies for the house. Went for a beer and then went home!Up early tomorrow for out first day of orentation/work
